Reserving the Building

To reserve a room in Whig Hall, please complete this form and e-mail the Secretary of the Society, Evan Soltas (esoltas@princeton.edu) to indicate that you would like to reserve the building. We will be in contact with you shortly afterwards.

The following rooms are available for rental:
James Madison Room 3rd floor (capacity = 37) – Used for meetings/presentations
Student Organizations: $20 per use
Departments: $40 per use

Oakes Lounge Room 1st floor (capacity = 190) – Used for meetings/presentations/receptions
Student Organizations: $30 per use for events up to 3 hours in length, $50 if events exceed 3 hours in length.
Departments: $60 per use for events up to 3 hours in length, $80 if events exceed 3 hours in length.

Senate Chamber 2nd floor (capacity = 280) – Use for meetings/presentations/receptions
Student Organizations: $50 per use for events up to 3 hours in length, $70 if events exceed 3 hours in length.
Departments: $100 per use for events up to 3 hours in length, $120 if events exceed 3 hours in length.

Student Organizations: $45 per use for events up to 3 hours in length, $68 if events exceed 3 hours in length.
Departments: $150 per use for events up to 3 hours in length, $225 if event exceeds 3 hours in length.

Room Reservation Policy

Thank you for choosing the Whig building for your meeting or event. Please read the following
policy carefully. By placing your reservation for one or more room in Whig Hall, you agree to
these policies and are responsible for disseminating this information to event attendees.

  • Event organizers must provide a University project grant or account number at the time of the reservation.
  • All reservation requests must be received at least two weeks prior to the event date.
  • The Whig Cliosophic Society is responsible for reserving the room(s) requested and lock/ unlock services. All other items necessary for your event that do not currently exist in the building must be requested through University Building Services at the time of the reservation.
  • Any items requested after the two week deadline cannot be guaranteed.
  • Event organizers who wish to use audio or video equipment for their events need notify the Whig Cliosophic Society and specify the nature of the equipment and the support required. If the equipment does not exist in the building, it must be requested through Media Services (258-3196; media@princeton.edu). Any equipment requested after the two week deadline cannot be guaranteed. There may be additional costs associated with audio or video equipment requests.
  • Departments and organizations sponsoring events may be held responsible for any damage to the rooms, building, or electronic equipment that may have occurred during the time of their reservation.
  • Food is not permitted in the Senate Chamber but is permitted in Oakes Lounge.
