The Literary Society Colloquium: The Western Canon of National Folklore

April 10 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Students Only

Join the Literary Society of Whig-Clio for a casual colloquium on the Western canon and the future of national folklore. Using a curated packet of global myths and literary criticism, we’ll discuss whether the “classics” still build a shared identity or if they primarily serve to exclude marginalized voices. We will explore the power dynamics of canon-building and ask if these traditional structures can ever be truly inclusive or if it’s time to move beyond them. Light refreshments will be provided during the event, followed by an optional dinner for anyone who wants to keep the conversation going.
